Construction Update Blog - May 21
On Friday, May 4, our first load of furniture for the South Wing arrived. Since then, we've installed a lot of the furniture in the South Wing, which has made the spaces look simply amazing! The bright, cheerful colors have really made the spaces kid-friendly, and this furniture will also provide spaces for patients and families to relax while they are receiving treatment here at the hospital.
During the week of May 14, we started moving computers, televisions, and medical equipment into a staging area to get those items ready to move onto the patient care floors. A team of workers moved equipment from our warehouse, our receiving department, and other places through the hospital and into the South Wing through one of the cut-thru areas between the main hospital and the new building. As the building is still under construction, these workers have to wear hard hats, safety goggles, and a special "South Wing Hall Pass" in order to access the cut-thru. I made the hall passes a bright hot pink so that the guys would really enjoy wearing them! J
This week, we continue to move items into the building, and we are anxiously awaiting our certificate of occupancy from the city so that we can take possession of the building and really begin to move-in and get the building ready for patients. We look forward to the grand opening celebrations in June and moving the first department in on June 29.
