Knitting for Noggins Update

It's time for our 2011 Knitting for Noggins program!  Help make a difference in the lives of our patients and families - knit or crochet hats for children of all ages (we always have a need for larger hats for our school-age children and teenagers).  Since the beginning of our program, we have collected over 180,000 hats to keep kids' heads warm!  Please visit our website, www.knittingfornoggins.org for the specific details and information.  Our brochure and donor form can be found here as well - http://www.archildrens.org/documents/K4N_Brochure2011.pdf.

Family Packs Needed

We have a need for "family packs" - a Ziploc bag (7-8 inches or 1 quart) full of small toiletries and personal hygiene items. Travel size items are desired for convenience-toothbrushes, small toothpastes, mouthwash, combs, soaps, shampoo/conditioners, lotions, deodorants, razors, and small sewing kits. Small writing tablets and ink pens are also appreciated. These items are provided to our parents and caregivers who have a need for them during their hospital stay.

Items Needed for ACH's Burn Center

Many of our Burn Center patients have long stays here at ACH.  Your group or organization can help make their stay a little more comfortable by providing certain supplies!  Our Burn Center treats both adult and pediatric patients, so we need activities to occupy a wide age-range of patients.  Some of the items needed are:

• Hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, sanitary pads, deodorant)
• Underwear for adults (male and female, mostly in large and extra-large)
• Reading material (magazines, books for adults)
• Water bottles with big handles and long straws
• Elastic waist or drawstring adult sweatpants and t-shirts (usually large and extra-large)
• House shoes or slippers, non-skid (different adult sizes)
• Socks (adult sizes)

Listed below are the items that we are currently in need of:

• Bubbles (4 or 6-oz bottles)
• Books - for all ages (infant thru teen)
• Small clinic prizes
• Generic play-doh
• Teen prizes - especially hand held electronic games
• Card games - Go Fish type (not regular playing cards)
• Hot wheels cars
• Small inexpensive trucks
• Small inexpensive dolls
• Zhu Zhu pets
• Small Yahtzee canister games
• iPads and iPad2s for staff to provide teaching/distraction to patients
• iPod Touch for staff to provide distraction to patients
• Gift Cards (iTunes, Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us)
• Gift Certificates for Playaway Gift Shop (ACH gift shop)

ACH Playaway Gift Shop

Did you know that Arkansas Children's Hospital has a wonderful gift shop located just inside our lobby?  You can support the hospital and fulfill your shopping needs in our Playaway Gift Shop.  Need birthday gifts or baby gifts?  They are happy to take phone orders - so give them a call at 501-364-1209 and they can shop and gift-wrap for you.  You can pay via credit card over the phone, call when you get to the front of the hospital, and they will run it out to you!  If you follow ACH on Facebook, Playaway Gift Shop features new items every Wednesday.
