    Physician Bio

    Dr. Eudice Fontenot is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Pediatric Cardiology) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He received his B.S. in Biology from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and his medical degree from Louisiana State University. He completed an internshipand residency at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport,serving as Chief Resident his last year.

    He did a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. Following his fellowship he joined the faculty at University of Florida College of Medicine as Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Transplant Program.He then moved back to Louisiana where he served as Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at LSU Medical Center.He then moved to New Orleans where he was Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab at LSU-New Orleans.

    Dr. Fontenot joined the faculty at UAMS/Arkansas Children’s Hospital in October 1998 as an Associate Professor. He became Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and served in this capacity until late 2004 when he accepted the challenge to develop a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at UAMS/ACH. He was awarded the first Heart of Excellence Award by his peers for his work in the CVICU, and last year won the Red SashAward by popular vote of medical students as an outstanding teacher.

    Dr. Fontenot is a Fellow of the ACC, and is board certified by the Board of Pediatrics, and Sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology.
