    George J. Fuchs, III, M.D., is a Professor of Pediat­rics University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. He received his M.D. in 1980 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, completed Pediatric Residency at Tuft's New England Medical Center (NEMC) and the Boston Floating Hospital for Infants and Children. Dr. Fuchs subsequently completed fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition as well as Pediatric Infectious Disease at Tuft's NEMC in Boston, MA and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX.

    Dr Fuchs was on the pediatric faculty LSU School of Medical in New Orleans for 16 years, 10 of which as a scientist in residence in the Research Institute for Health Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Thailand and ICDDR,B: Centre for Health and Population Research, Dhaka, Bangladesh where he was Director of Clinical Sciences and Director of Nutrition.

    Dr. Fuchs is a member of many professional so­cieties including the American Gastroenterology Association, Infectious Disease Society of America, and the North America Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). He has been a NASPGHAN Executive Councilor, Chair of the Nutrition Committee, and Publication Committee member.

    He has published the results of his work in more than 160 articles in scientific and medical journals.
