    Physician Bio

    Maria Barbera Odilia Mathilde Honnebier, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor for the Division of Plastic Surgery, in the Department of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children's Hospital. Before arriving at UAMS, Dr Honnebier was in practice in North Carolina. From 2005-2008 Dr Honnebier served as Surgical Director and co-founder of the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at Kapiolani Hospital for Women and Children, Honolulu, Hawaii and served as Clinical Associate Professor University of Hawaii, Department of Surgery.

    Dr. Honnebier holds a cum laude medical degree from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In addition, Dr. Honnebier obtained a Ph.D. in Physiology from Cornell University and University of Amsterdam Faculty of Medicine cum laude in 1993. She obtained her medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine in 1996. She completed general surgery residency at the University of Hawaii Surgical Residency Program. Her post-graduate education includes fellowships in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Oregon Health and Sciences University 2002 - 2004; Hand and Micro Surgery, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2001 also from Oregon Health and Sciences University and Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2004.

    Dr. Honnebier's clinical interests include Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery with an emphasis on congenital deformities; Pediatric and Adult Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Esthetic Surgery.

    Dr. Honnebier is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and holds a medical license in the states of Hawaii, North Carolina and Arkansas.
