    Physician Bio

    Dr. Tamara O. Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Section of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children's Hospital.

    Born and raised on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a small Caribbean nation, Dr. Thomas moved to the United States after high school to further her education. In 2000, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. After 3 years as a working professional in a biology laboratory, she attended Texas A&M University Health Science Center – College of Medicine and graduated with her medical degree in 2007. She went on to complete her pediatrics residency training at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee in 2010. She then moved to Cincinnati where she completed her pediatric cardiology fellowship in 2013 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Thomas went on to do an advanced fellowship training year in pediatric heart failure, cardiomyopathy and heart transplant, also at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

    Dr. Thomas joined the medical staff at ACH in 2014. She is interested in all aspects of clinical care regarding inpatient and outpatient evaluation and management of patients with heart failure and heart transplantation. Additionally, she has had specific training in mechanical circulatory support devices such as the Berlin Heart, ECMO, HeartMate II, HeartWare as well as the total artificial heart (Syncardia).
