LITTLE ROCK, AR. (May 5, 2010) – Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) received a total of five gold, silver and bronze awards for creative communications and advertising projects in the 27th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, according to Dan McFadden, APR, director of communications for ACH.
The state’s only pediatric medical center participated in the children’s hospital division of the awards competition. The hospital received two gold awards: one in the employee communications category for the hospital’s in-house employee news magazine series, “Vital Signs TV,” and another in the “Other” category for the marketing and development of a costume for its mascot, Scout, the ACH Wayfinding Dog.
ACH received two silver awards, as well: one in the calendar category for “Building Blocks of ACH: 2010 Calendar,” and another in the health promotion program category for “Shoo, Flu,” a multi-media campaign to raise awareness about and prevent the spread of seasonal and H1N1 influenza. In the new media category, ACH received a bronze award for its holiday e-card.
In addition, ACH received 11 merit awards for newspaper advertising, publications, its annual report, a special video production and several other projects. All totaled, ACH brought home the most National Healthcare Advertising Awards in Arkansas.

A national panel of judges was engaged in reviewing all entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. More than 4,000 entries were received in this year’s competition.
