Defining Subgroups of Mitochondrial Disease and Dysfunction in Autism Spectrum Disorder

Study Description:

Researchers at Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute are conducting a study looking at mitochondrial function in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The study consists of 2 visits to ACH with blood draws. If your child has ASD, there will also be evaluations of your child's abilities at the time of the visit 1 blood draw. The second blood draw will be from 1 to 12 months after visit 1.

Study Eligibility:

  • Is between the ages of 3-14 years.
  • Is typically developing with no diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using gold-standard criteria and may or may not have a diagnosis of mitochondrial disease.
