Molecular Genetic Pathology, Molecular Microbiology Division
The Molecular Diagnostics Lab performs a variety of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for detection of the DNA or RNA specific to certain pathogens. PCR testing is available for CMV, EBV, Pneumococcus, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1\2), Enterovirus, B. pertussis, Ehrlichia, N. gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia, Kingella, Influenza, C. difficile, Mycoplasma, Trichomonas and Methicillin-resistant Staph (MRSA) occurrence.
In addition, we perform a Respiratory Viral Pathogen panel which tests for Adenovirus, Coronavirus HKU1, Coronavirus NL63, Human Metapneumovirus, Influenza A, Influenza A subtype H1, Influenza A subtype H3, Influenza A subtype 2009 H1, Influenza B, Parainfluenza Virus 1, Parainfluenza Virus 2, Parainfluenza Virus 3, Parainfluenza Virus 4, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
