Heart Station

The Heart Station offers state-of-the-art noninvasive cardiac diagnostic studies. These services are available to inpatients and outpatients. Three major areas of cardiac evaluation are found here: cardiac rhythm assessment, echocardiography and cardiac stress testing.

Cardiac rhythm assessment includes electrocardiograms, ambulatory 24-hour holter monitoring, transtelephonic event monitoring, pacemaker/ defibrillator evaluations and tilt-table testing. Echocardiography is a comprehensive anatomical assessment of the heart and evaluation of cardiac function. Different modalities are available including transthoracic, transesophageal, intracardiac, fetal echocardiography and three-dimensional echocardiography. Exercise stress testing is also available. This can evaluate pulmonary function and cardiac performance in exercise and recovery. Monitoring of heart rate changes and rhythm during exercise is also performed.
