The Heart Station offers state-of-the-art noninvasive cardiac diagnostic studies. These services are available to inpatients and outpatients. Three major areas of cardiac evaluation are found here: cardiac rhythm assessment, echocardiography and cardiac stress testing.
- Cardiac rhythm assessment includes electrocardiograms, ambulatory 24-hour holter monitoring, transtelephonic event monitoring, pacemaker/ defibrillator evaluations and tilt-table testing.
- Echocardiography is a comprehensive anatomical assessment of the heart and evaluation of cardiac function. Different modalities are available including transthoracic, transesophageal, intracardiac, fetal echocardiography and three-dimensional echocardiography.
- Exercise stress testing is also available. This can evaluate pulmonary function and cardiac performance in exercise and recovery. Monitoring of heart rate changes and rhythm during exercise is also performed.
