Brayden's Story

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Every year, about 200 children visit Arkansas Children's Hospital on their journey to beat diseases ranging from leukemia and bone tumors to osteosarcoma and neuroblastoma.

Three years ago, Brayden Jones of Bella Vista started his fight against the most common childhood cancer, ALL. Follow Brayden's progress through these weekly installments.

Episode 1: Trouble Breathing
Healthy and full of life, Brayden has just turned 9 years old. But during an afternoon of fun with his dad, Brayden begins to have trouble breathing. His family worries and heads to their local ER. Within minutes, ACH's Angel One is dispatched to pick up their son. Watch this episode!

Episode 2: The News
Just a few hours after landing at ACH, his family hears the words every family dreads: "It's cancer." But Dr. Robert Saylors tells them that Brayden's acute lymphoblastic leukemia has an 85 percent cure rate. Watch this episode!

Episode 3: Brayden Fights
After spending a few days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at ACH, Brayden's family meets the staff and settles in on the Hematology/Oncology floor at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Their hard-fighting patient undergoes chemo, meets other children his age thick in the battle and begins to improve. Watch this episode!

Episode 4: The Journey Continues
Brayden is all smiles despite difficult therapies and many trips to the hospital. His mother explains how ACH has helped them cope, and Brayden makes a special wish. Watch this episode!
