Care Provided:
Physical Therapy
- Physical therapists examine, evaluate and provide physical therapy diagnosis and intervention for children and adolescents with impairment, functional limitations and disabilities
- Offers services to both inpatients and outpatients to help remediate the limitations and improve function; services include therapeutic exercise, gait training, developmental intervention, wound care, hydrotherapy (including therapeutic pool), electrotherapy (TENS, NMES and biofeedback) and use of lower extremity orthotic and prosthetic devices
Occupational Therapy
- Occupational therapists evaluate and treat children with physical disabilities, developmental delays, perceptual-motor problems and oral-motor difficulties
- Primary services to inpatients and outpatients: splinting, determining adaptive equipment needs, seating evaluations, feeding and videofluroscopy swallowing assessments, developmental training, instruction in activities of daily living and evaluation/training in the use of switches and adaptive technology
Orthotics/Prosthetics
- Provide patient care and services to children with neuromuscular or musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs, lower limbs, spine, torso and head
- Evaluate, design, fabricate and fit orthotics (braces) to patients
- Prosthetists evaluate, design, fabricate and fit prosthesis to patients with limb deficiencies
