At 3 Years Old, She'll Soon Undergo Fourth Heart Surgery

Submitted by Lindsay C. Newman, mother of patient Peyton
Winnsboro, La.

Peyton Bryce Crymes, daughter of Lindsay Danielle Crymes, was born on Nov. 17, 2008 at 7:40 p.m. She weighed 6.2 pounds and was 17 inches long.  Right after birth, the doctors found out she had heart problems. She was immediately rushed to Arkansas Children's Hospital for better treatment. She did not have a pulmonary artery, which carries the blood to the lungs and to the rest of the body, and she also had a hole in the bottom chamber. She had her first surgery on Nov. 26, 2008. She did great!  She had her second surgery on April 3, 2009.

"Peypey" had her third open heart surgery on April 29. 2010, and she did great again - nine and a half hours long. She is so pink now. I can't imagine how healthy she's going to be! Peyton has proved to us that she is strong - a fighter and a warrior. We call her scar the "Warrior Scar" because she is so strong & such a fighter!

We are on the way back to ACH for heart surgery No. 4 in June!
