Recreational Safety (Bicycle and Pedestrian)

Arkansas Safe Routes to School

Arkansas Bicycle SafetyThe goal of Safe Routes to School is to increase the number of children walking and riding bicycles to school safely, with an emphasis on kindergarten through eighth grade. The project will develop a state-specific tool kit with a goal of increasing interest among Arkansas communities. Focus groups, Web site development, and technical assistance are among the project’s activities.

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) provides the funding to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) for their SRTS program.
