Congenital heart care requires excellent equipment and exceptional people
working together as a tightly choreographed team. It is this state-of-the-art,
seamless, caring teamwork among literally hundreds of individuals that sets
the Heart Center staff apart.
A weekly team conference of 30 to 40 members is held to review and plan every
upcoming case. Surgeons, cardiologists, nurses, therapists, social workers and
others all participate; for every patient, every team member is "on the
same page." On a daily basis, an individualized care team "rounds"
or visits each patient. This team might number 10 or 12, and includes all staff
involved in the daily care of your child. In this way, every medical caregiver
is intensely focused on the individual needs of every single child in our care.
Arkansas Children’s Hospital has recruited some of the world’s
preeminent pediatric cardiovascular physicians. Their quality is evidenced not
only in the successful outcomes they have achieved, but in the research and
publications of their work they have completed—work that continues to
move the field forward.
