The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) incorporates a multidisciplinary team, with each member specialized in pediatric care. An important advantage of the team approach is that the professionals are in direct and continuous communication about your child's care. Each team member is aware of your child's specific needs and progress and is able to make recommendations for appropriate care. The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at ACH has been achieving excellent results with this interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the most complex facial conditions.

Children's facial abnormalities and injuries require special attention. Facial trauma can range between minor injuries to disfigurement that lasts a lifetime. The face is critical in interacting with others, so it is important to get the best treatment possible. Pediatric facial trauma differs from adult injury because a child's face is not fully formed and future growth may be a factor as the child heals and recovers. Difficult cases require physicians with great skill to do a repair that will help ensure that your child grows normally.

Dr. Michael Key* has been on the medical staff at ACH more than 20 years and has managed the majority of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery patients at the hospital. Dr. Key is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Key is board certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
