The Pediatric Habilitation Clinic provides comprehensive specialty medical
services for children, adolescents and selected adults with physical disabilities
and their families. We work with the Arkansas State Children’s Medical
Services (CMS) staff; a representative is usually in each clinic, as well as
local durable medical vendor representatives. Nutritionists and a social worker
also cover this clinic regularly. Depending on availability, we may be able
to coordinate same-day appointments for interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment
by PT, OT, audiology, orthotics and prosthetics, and various radiologic evaluations.
We also coordinate other necessary subspecialty referrals and appointments as
conveniently as possible.
Areas addressed typically include educational and therapy programs; feeding,
swallowing, nutrition and oral health; seating and mobility; spasticity management;
communication; gait analysis; and walking aids such as braces, crutches and
walker. We cooperate with outside agencies and referral sources to provide for
coordination of care as much as possible. Outside therapists and/or teachers
are welcome to attend with children and families when appropriate. Periodic
outreach clinics are also offered at various sites throughout Arkansas in conjunction
with Children’s Medical Services to best serve our children in outlying
areas. We do not substitute for regular primary care physicians, but will communicate
and coordinate with them and are happy to be available for consultation on any
disability related medical issues.
Note: This clinic is available to your child by physician referral.
Talk with your child’s physician and tell him/her you would like to be
referred to ACH. Have the doctor contact the Arkansas Children’s Hospital
Physician Referral Services Department to make a referral. If your child does
not have a regular physician, please call 501-364-5901 and we will be happy
to recommend one in your area.
