High-Risk Newborn Follow-Up Clinic

Former patients of Arkansas Children’s Hospital and University Hospital intensive care nurseries and from other neonatal intensive care facilities are examined for growth and development, early signs of neuromotor delay and cerebral palsy. Nutritional and social counseling are available. Physical problems common to the low birth weight infant, such as anemia and apnea of prematurity, are evaluated.

A neonatologist directs the clinic, and personnel include a pediatric psychologist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, nutritionist, audiologist and neonatology specialty nurse.


Note: This clinic is available to your child by physician referral. Talk with your child’s physician and tell him/her you would like to be referred to ACH. Have the doctor contact the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Physician Referral Services Department to make a referral. If your child does not have a regular physician, please call 501-364-5901 and we will be happy to recommend one in your area.
