Description
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) courses have been developed by the American
Heart Association. They emphasize the recognition and treatment of adult (over
10 years of age) cardiac dysrhythmias.
The course is intended for physicians, paramedics, nurses and respiratory therapists.
Course Objectives
The ACLS course is designed to teach participants to manage the first 10 minutes
of a witnessed, adult, ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest. The participant
must manage the patient alone for several minutes, performing basic CPR and
automated defibrillation. The participant will also learn to direct members
of a team to assist in resuscitation.
