Research at ACH

The Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute ACHRI

The Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACHRI) is a not-for-profit corporation owned by Arkansas Children’s Hospital.  It is located one block south of the main hospital building. Clinical research at ACHRI contributes to new medication development and to new technology that will improve patient care. Basic and applied research studies at ACHRI seek answers to questions about human health and diseases that may one day contribute to new or improved methods for disease treatment or prevention. ACHRI’s health services and community health researchers improve communities through health promotion, health outcomes, health services, and prevention research. Over 100 pediatric researchers, with expertise and experience that span the breadth of medical disciplines, work to fulfill ACHRI’s mission to improve children’s health, development, and well-being through high quality research.

Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center (ACNC)

The Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center (ACNC) is a cooperative effort of the United States Department of Agriculture, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. ACNC conducts both clinical and laboratory research on brain development and function, dietary factors (non-traditional nutrients or functional foods), bone development and remodeling, childhood obesity, and enhancement of immune function. Clinical services offered by the ACNC are body composition analysis, indirect calorimetry, and anthropometrics. The Center actively recruits human subjects for clinical research. For more information, visit the ACNC website at http://www.acnc.uams.edu.

Note: This clinic is available to your child by physician referral. Talk with your child’s physician and tell him/her you would like to be referred to ACH. Have the doctor contact the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Physician Referral Services Department to make a referral. If your child does not have a regular physician, please call 501-364-5901 and we will be happy to recommend one in your area.
