A Day in the Life of Angel One Transport
Here is a true story that describes a typical day at Angel One Medical Transport.
The day started out nice and quiet. Both helicopters were on the helipads, the phones were silent and the crews were busy stocking their packs.
An ACH patient needed to go to a local radiation therapy center for treatment first thing in the morning. Our EMT went upstairs, picked him up and took him and mom by ground ambulance across town for his treatment. All went well and he was returned to his room to rest.
Upon return, our EMT and ambulance crew had another trip to for a second patient for radiation therapy. Between these two, our ground crew was staying busy!
Then, it all broke loose around noon when we received a call from Texarkana where a newborn with a heart defect which needed specialized care from a pediatric cardiologist as well as a neonatologist. Next, a call came in from Pine Bluff with a premature newborn in respiratory distress. At practically the same time, we got a call from Bentonville where a toddler had nearly drowned in a bath tub. Then, Ft. Smith called with another toddler with pneumonia. All this in a matter of hours.
Each patient was picked up and brought to ACH, all before 2 p.m.
