Children’s Healthcare System – PHO Board of Directors Names Petlak Executive Director

LITTLE ROCK, AR. (Nov. 11, 2008) – The Children’s Healthcare System – Physician-Hospital Organization (PHO) has appointed long-time Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) team member Beth Petlak as its executive director. Petlak also serves as Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s vice president of Business Development and Managed Care. She will continue her ACH responsibilities along with her new duties leading the PHO.
“Beth is an excellent choice for spearheading the organization in the coming years,” said Carole Zylman, senior vice president for Medical Services and chief business development officer for ACH. Zylman preceded Petlak as executive director of the PHO, a position she held for 10 years. “Her proven leadership skills are demonstrated every day at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and will serve the PHO well.”
Petlak brings a wide range of experience in health care leadership and negotiating to the position. In her 10-plus years at ACH, Petlak has helped develop and implement one of the nation’s first freestanding pediatric simulation and clinical skills centers. In addition, she has assisted with the development and implementation of managed care and business strategies for the hospital.
Petlak begins her duties as executive director of the PHO immediately.
