At www.archildrens.org/flu families also can find a flu Q&A to help them decide whether their symptoms match up with H1N1, complete info on which groups are high-risk, tips on what to do when a sick child needs to stay home, and pointers for avoiding the bug as it swiftly moves through schools and communities.
Schools and businesses can download flyers and posters about identifying symptoms and covering coughs through the ACH Web site. There’s even a “FLUtube” video channel with local media coverage including exclusive commentary on H1N1 from ACH physicians.
Families should remember that there’s no need to panic about the H1N1 flu virus. Symptoms will be similar to those faced by families every flu season, and most patients will recover in about five days at home with rest, lots of fluids and plenty of TLC. Many people who get sick won’t even need medical treatment.
