Mandated reporters are person's under the Child Protection Law who are required to report suspected acts of child maltreatment. Mandated reporters must immediately contact the Child Abuse Hotline to report suspected child abuse.

Mandated Reporters in Arkansas include:

Social Services/Mental Health Personnel
Social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, etc.
Medical Personnel
Physicians, surgeons, osteopaths, nurses, emergency medical technicians, dentists, chiropractors, coroners, resident interns, and any medical personnel who may be engaged in the admission, examination, care, or treatment of persons.
Legal, Law Enforcement, or Criminal Justice Personnel.
Peace officers, prosecuting attorneys, court appointed special advocates (CASA workers), juvenile intake or probation officers, judges, law enforcement officials, and employees of the Division of Youth Services (DYS) of the Department of Human Services (DHS)
Education Personnel
Teachers, principals, school counselors, Head Start staff, and any other school staff/officials
Child Day Care Providers
Child care workers, foster care workers, day care center workers
Clergy
Ministers, rabbis, priests and other members of the clergy.

Even if you are not a legally mandated reporter but you have concerns that a child may be a victim of any type of child abuse, please consider calling the Child Abuse Hotline. Your report can protect that child or other children from further harm. If you know or are related to the abuser, this is very difficult. Yet, if you can keep your focus on the child, you may be that child’s best or only hope for safety.
