Wish List
Toys or favors approved by the Child Life and Education Department may be distributed
to the appropriate children. Please check with Volunteer Services or the Child
Life staff in advance about the kinds of donations and/or gift items that meet
safety and medical requirements and are appropriate to the age and condition
of the children. When items have been approved, please bring enough to distribute
for all patients. Please remember that favors are not necessary in order to
visit the hospital.
- All toys and prizes provided by our special projects volunteers and special entertainers should be new.
- Due to infection control policies, no used or old toys can be accepted. All stuffed toys must be filled with fabric or solid foam.
- Toys with detachable or removal parts which can be swallowed or inhaled by small children cannot be accepted.
- All toys donated should be sturdy. Toys made of glass or brittle plastic cannot be accepted.
- Only non-toxic paint, glue or craft supplies can be used.
- Toys with numerous small parts which require close supervision are not appropriate.
- Please avoid donating toys with sharp edges or protrusions.
- No toys and/or gifts that may include candles, knives, or Latex balloons will be accepted.
- We do not accept toys that depict violence in any way. No guns, swords, “action” or fighting figures will be accepted.
Donation Suggestions
Here is a helpful wish list of items provided by the Child Life and Education
Department:
- Bubbles
- Playing cards (including “Uno,” “Old Maid,” “Go Fish”)
- Crayons (preferably boxes of 24)
- Colored pencils
- Activity books for all ages
- Coloring books
- Pacifiers
- Sippy cups
- Infant toys/rattles
- Sound books
- “Matchbox” cars
- Handheld electronic games (Yahtzee, Wheel of Fortune, Fishing and Sport
Games)
- Infant Toys
- Journals
- Batteries (AAA, AA, C, D)
- Decks of Cards
- Word Search/Crossword Puzzle books
