BEVERAGE FAQ

Are there calories or fat grams in brewed coffee? All brewed coffee is naturally fat-free. All brewed coffee (including regular, decaf and flavors) contain a small amount of calories. A 12 oz. serving has approximately 5 calories. For information on other sizes, see Java City's nutritional calculator.

Is there 100% decaf coffee? How much caffeine is in your decaf? There is currently no coffee on the market that is 100% caffeine free. By law, coffee can be classified decaf when it is 97% caffeine free or greater. A typical 12 oz. serving of decaf coffee contains approximately 10 - 15 mg. of caffeine.

How much caffeine is in regular Java City coffee? Caffeine content can vary significantly depending upon the brewing method and the type of coffee used. The more time water spends in contact with coffee grounds, increases the caffeine totals per cup. All Java City cafés use a drip process for brewing coffee. A typical cup of coffee brewed through this method contains 10 - 15 mg. of caffeine per oz. A 12 oz. brewed coffee contains 120 - 170 mg. of caffeine.

Is there sodium in brewed coffee? All coffee beans are naturally sodium-free. Brewed coffee is also generally free of sodium unless sodium was contained in the brewing water. All Java City cafés use filtration systems designed to minimize sodium.

Does Java City offer any organic coffee? Java City uses coffee from many farms that use organic farming practices. At this time Java City is not a certified organic producer, therefore we cannot label our coffees as such. Java City is planning to achieve organic certification by the end of 2006 which will allow us to market and sell certified organic coffee.

How much caffeine is in a Javalanche®? All coffee-based Javalanchebeverages do have caffeine, roughly the same amount as a 12 oz. can of soda (40- 50 mg.) The Chai Javalanche® contains approximately 20 - 30 mg. of caffeine. All Javalanche beverages can be made with decaf coffee or enjoyed as a non coffee indulgence.

How much caffeine is in Bewley's™ Chai? Bewley's Chai consists of dozens of ingredients including black tea. With the exception of black tea, most of the ingredients in Bewley's Chai are herbal and naturally caffeine free. Black tea is a small percentage of the overall blend of Bewley's Chai , making this a very low caffeine product. A 12 oz. Bewley's Chai Tea Latté has approximately 10 mg. of caffeine, roughly the same amount as a cup of decaf brewed coffee.

Do any of your beverages contain gluten? Nearly all of Java City's products are gluten-free, however the following products do contain gluten:

Temptation Station Treats

Specialty Beverages

Milk chocolate covered grahams

Black & White on Ice

Mint Coco Jo's®

Cookies 'N Cream Javalanche®
