Dr. Bower received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1981 and then attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed a residency in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at UAMS in 1990, and a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 1992 before joining the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and UAMS medical staff in 1992. Dr. Bower is board certified in otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is the Vice Chief of pediatric ENT. He is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. He has received numerous awards for his work including being named one of the Best Doctors in America (1996-2015), the Red Sash teaching award and the otolaryngology teaching award. Dr. Bower has published numerous articles and book chapters on topics in pediatric otolaryngology including infant hearing screening, sleep apnea, and airway problems. His primary clinical and/or academic interests include pediatric sleep apnea, chronic ear infections, infant hearing screening, pediatric sinus problems, and pediatric airway problems.
