Thomas Best, M.D., is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). He is the current Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory/Heart Station at ACH. In his primary role as Echocardiographer, Dr. Best performs and interprets transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms and is an integral part of the Fetal Cardiology program providing fetal echocardiography interpretation and consultation at ACH, UAMS, and through telemedicine encounters. Dr. Best serves as a clinical attending on the cardiology inpatient and consultation service and cardiology outpatient clinic.
Dr. Best received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. After his residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, he completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Best joined the faculty of UAMS/ACH in 2001.
Dr. Best is certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and the Sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. His interests include pediatric echocardiography, advanced imaging to assess ventricular function, fetal echocardiography, and fetal arrhythmias, including fetal magnetocardiography assessment.
