Meet the Champion: Dr. Alan Lucas, Winner of the Dr. Tom Ed Townsend Award

May 30, 2019

The Dr. Tom Ed Townsend Award is given to an Arkansas community physician or practice who has provided excellence in pediatric health care and been a consistent supporter of Arkansas Children’s. The award is named in memory of Dr. Townsend in recognition of his life-long service to the children of Arkansas.

This year’s award honoree is an outstanding pediatrician whose teamwork and leadership has been apparent in his practice and on the national level for decades – Dr. Alan Lucas.

Dr. Lucas formed Arkansas Pediatrics of Conway with Dr. Steve McNabb in July 1995. He is a graduate of Crossett High School, Northeast Louisiana University and the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. He completed pediatric training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Lucas is active in medical staff issues at Conway Regional Medical Center, where he served as Chief of the Medical Staff. He was instrumental in Conway Regional becoming the first member of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Nursery Alliance in 2016.

Here’s more about this dedicated champion for children.
