Transitioning to Adult Care

Shelley's Story: Bridging the Gap Between Pediatric and Adult CHD Care

As a teenager, Shelly Williams thought she had a heart murmur, but it turned out to be a congenital heart defect. After surgery at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) in 2011 to repair her heart defect, she enjoys normal daily activities with no restrictions. Shelly is not only a CHD patient, she’s also a cardiac nurse at ACH and a mother to a little boy with CHD. The experts at ACH help patients like Shelly transition from pediatric congenital heart disease care to adult care. We're helping our adult CHD patients become better today and healthier tomorrow.
