Clinical Trials

A clinical trial is a research study that allows volunteers to receive treatment with a drug or device currently under research testing by a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company. These companies carefully select qualified physicians who serve as "investigators” to lead the study trials.

Arkansas Children's offers opportunities to the community to participate in many studies. Use the search fields below to review the current available studies.

Title:
Brain Fuel
Description:

The BRAIN FUEL study is a short-term nutrition research study designed to examine how nutrition and body composition affect a child’s learning and retention. In terms of time commitment, we ask the families to come to the Nutrition Center 3 times for visits that involved obtaining growth measurements, psychological development testing and monitoring of brain waves in our brain function lab. Visit 1 consists of a hearing and vision test, height and weight measurements along with lifestyle and behavior questionnaires. This visit can last anywhere from 2-5 hours. To thank you for your time, up to $50 may be provided. Visit 2 consists of an overnight stay at ACNC. The visit begins at 6 pm with dinner provided. We will then assess sleep amount and quality with a device that is worn on the wrist. In the morning after breakfast we will conduct psychological development testing and monitoring of brain waves in our brain function lab. The visit should be complete by noon the following day. Compensation for completing this visit is $250. Visit 3 consists of a MRI at ACH Radiology. Participants will wear the sleep monitor device at their home the night before their visit and will be fed a specific breakfast prior to the MRI. This visit will take approximately an three hours. $100 will be provided to thank you for this visit.
