Intermediate Care Unit - 3C

The Intermediate Care Unit at Arkansas Children’s partners with the medical and surgical teams to safely accept and transfer pediatric patients that need a higher level of monitoring. We provide care to children following surgery, or to those suffering from medical conditions such as respiratory infection or distress, complications from asthma, electrolyte imbalance and more.

Our team of doctors, nurses, patient care technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, child life, social workers, dietitians and chaplains work together to provide keen assessments and rapid interventions to help our patients continue to heal.

Located on the third floor of the main hospital, the Intermediate Care Unit features seven private rooms and three semi-private rooms. The unit provides a variety of specialized treatments including continuous albuterol, insulin support and oxygen support, and all rooms support isolation and ventilators. We work together with other hospital specialists, including cardiology, intensive care, hematology, surgery, pharmacy and others to ensure your child receives the best possible care.
