Core Services

Administrative and Scientific Support Core

Purpose

The Administrative and Scientific Support Core is designed to provide the basic operational underpinning to support the research efforts of the Center. The goals are to establish and operate the center; provide guided mentoring support for junior investigators; recruit new junior faculty; core develop and enhance the support cores to strengthen Center infrastructure and Center sustainability; and support the development of multidisciplinary grant applications that address the theme of childhood obesity.

Biostatistics and Informatics Core

Purpose

The mission of the Biostatistics and Informatics Core is to provide statistical, database and electronic-data capture support for proposed and future research projects supported by the Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention while enhancing and strengthening its own research capabilities.

  • CCOP grant development for primary and pilot studies
  • Database support
  • Data retrieval (e.g. MEDITECH, PHIS)
  • Statistical data analysis
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Extramural grant development

Metabolism Core

Purpose

The mission of the Metabolism Core is to provide support in design and implementation of metabolic studies, biological sample analyses, and data analyses for proposed and future research projects supported by the Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention, while enhancing and strengthening its own research capabilities.

Services

  • Advice on design and performance of metabolic studies, incl. stable isotope methodology
  • Support on biological sample analyses
  • Advice on metabolic data analyses
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Support on presentations and grant development
