Dr. Rosemary Nabaweesi's research explores innovative methodologies for observation of home safety practices and understanding psychosocial factors that contribute to disparate uptake of infant safe sleep recommendations. Her work will examine effective interventions for promoting infant sleep safety in rural underserved African American populations. She has also studied the predictive value of prehospital factors towards process and outcome measures in pediatric trauma care delivery, as well variation in CT scan radiation exposure to injured children when managed at a pediatric trauma center versus a non-pediatric trauma center.
Her research work focuses on helping rural minority communities achieve better health status for their children by using implementation science research tools to develop creative solutions, which will reduce infant mortality resulting from SIDS and unsafe sleep practices. Her current study explores barriers and facilitators to safe sleep intervention delivery and seeks to develop user-designed safe sleep interventions in an effort to reduce rural-urban and racial infant mortality disparities.
