Dr. John L. Carroll is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children's Hospital. Dr. Carroll serves as Section Chief for the Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Division.

Dr. Carroll received his medical degree from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, TX in 1979. He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at the State University of New York in 1982 and his clinical fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at University of Arizona Health Science Center and research fellowship at McGill University, The Montreal Children's Hospital in 1986. He then served on the Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine faculty at John Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, Maryland from 1987 until 2000 when joined the UAMS faculty and became section chief of the Pulmonary Medicine Division.

Dr. Carroll currently meets requirements for maintenance of certification in Pediatric Pulmonology and has lifetime board-certification in General Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Thoracic Society, and the Society for Pediatric Research.
