Job Shadowing FAQs

I am younger than 18. Do I need my parents to sign the Job Shadowing Registration/Application form?

Yes, there is a place on the "Shadowing Confidentiality and Attestation Agreement" form for your parent or guardian to sign.

How far in advance should I submit my completed Job Shadowing Registration Form?

We ask that you turn in your registration form no earlier than 3 months, but not later than 3 weeks prior to your requested date.  You will be contacted approximately 2 weeks prior to your requested shadow date to inform you if we are able to meet your request to shadow.

Are there certain areas that will not accept Job Shadowing participants?

There are certain departments at Arkansas Children's Hospital that will not accept shadowing participants.  We will make every effort to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to match you with a certain area/department.

I have submitted my form. What happens next?

You will be contacted approximately 2 weeks prior to your requested shadow date to inform you if we are able to meet your request to shadow.

I have been scheduled to job shadow at Arkansas Children's Hospital and I seem to be coming down with a cold/illness. What should I do?

Please call the contact who confirmed/arranged your shadowing/experience.

Where will I meet ACH staff on the day of my job shadow experience?

Students and adults will receive an email confirmation that will include details of where to meet and also confirmation of the dates we were able to schedule your shadowing experience.

Can you explain the TB skin testing procedure at ACH and tell me where I can obtain this documentation?

One TB skin test result is required in order to shadow. You will have a TB skin test administered and have that read in 48 to 72 hours (you will be told when to return to have your test read). TB skin tests are good for one year.

You can go to your physician or a clinic. Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian with them.
