About the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The NICU cares for infants throughout the region who require specialized care. Our team consists of many specialists who are equipped to provide the unique care a neonate requires. We provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to the care of your infant including Physical Therapy, Social Work, a Lactation Consultant, Nutritionist, Occupational Therapy, Pastoral Services, and many more.

The team in the ACH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is committed to providing safe, compassionate, quality care to our infants and families. An interdisciplinary, family-centered approach guides us in our pursuit of excellence and enhances our ability to ensure that all neonates achieve their maximum potential in health, growth, and development.

Care Provided:

  • 100-bassinet unit equipped and staffed to deliver a full range of tertiary and quaternary care to critically ill neonates; includes 17 private rooms
  • Specially-trained neonatal nurses available for one-on-one patient care
  • Neonatologists, pediatric house officers and neonatal nurse practitioners provide coverage to the unit, including 24-hour in-house staff neonatology coverage
  • Subspecialists from all pediatric disciplines available on-site for consultation 24 hours a day
  • The Division of Neonatology’s 19 neonatologists serve as attending physicians for the unit, staffing four attending teams of neonatologists and pediatricians daily.
  • Conference calls between attending neonatologist and physicians seeking consultation or advice regarding referral arranged via the hospital’s neonatal toll-free line, 1-800-ACH-HELP (1-800-224-4357), 24 hours a day
  • Only level IV NICU in the state of Arkansas
