Urology Department Updates

Dr. Vanessa Ortiz joined the urology team and serves our patients in Little Rock, Jonesboro and Springdale. This September, Stephanie Murdaugh, CNP, will join the team and serve as the primary nurse practitioner within the Spinal Cord Disorder Clinic in Little Rock. She will also network with OB offices in Arkansas to serve our prenatal population.

Urology Chief, Dr. Stephen Canon, will speak at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2022 National Conference & Exhibition taking place October 7-11, 2022, in Anaheim, California.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Offering Procedures Under Sedation Services

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, led by Dr. Sagar Mehta, is offering sedation services for patients who do not require the complexity of an operating room.

Procedures include:

  • Keloid excision
  • Steroid injections
  • Nevus excision
  • Cyst Excision
  • Earlobe and facial lacerations
  • Suture removal
  • Scar Revisions
  • Laser treatments
  • Dressing changes/wound care

Nursery Alliance Works with Partners to Improve Infant Care across the State

The Nursery Alliance creates networking and learning opportunities for members of the alliance and the Arkansas Children's health system to collaboratively work together to improve the health and well-being of babies and their families.

  • Neonatologists at ACH provide consultations to physicians, educational support, quality data review, implementation of best practices in collaboration with ACH and provide training as needed to help member hospitals provide the best care possible.
  • ACH nurses and other key interdisciplinary care teams are available for consultations, staff education and access to best practice standards of care to assist member hospital teams in the care of infants and high-risk newborns.

ACH Ortho Same-Day Clinic

Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock has an Orthopedic Urgent Access Clinic available for same-day urgent access. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

ACH Friday Night Sports Injury Clinic

The Sports Medicine Team at Arkansas Children’s Hospital offers a Friday Night Sports Injury Clinic from 10 p.m. to midnight every Friday night from August 26 through November 11. No appointment is necessary. Patients can access the clinic through the front hospital entrance from 10 p.m. to midnight on Fridays. Call 501-364-GAME for information.

ACNW Offers Sports Medicine for Developing Athletes

Sports Medicine at ACNW is growing. New providers have joined the ACNW Sports Medicine team allowing for increased appointment availability. The Emergency Department can help care for after-hours sports injuries, or patients can make an appointment with the Sports Medicine Clinic at 479-725-6995.
