The Happy Tummies Study is a nutrition research study designed to look at the gut health and immune systems of infants that are fed exclusively either breast-milk or exclusively fed formula.
Mom and baby will attend 5 study visits, starting when baby is 1 month old.
At the 1-month and 2-month old visits we will provide Similac Advance formula, ask about baby’s nutrition, and obtain some body measurements on baby. These visits will each last about an hour.
At the 3- month old visit, we will ask medical history questions, obtain some body temperature and composition measurements on baby, and perform blood, urine, stool, and cheek swab collection. This visit will last about 4 hours. We will also ask mom to complete a 3-day food record.
At the fourth visit, we will ask mom to bring back the completed food records and stool samples. To thank you for your participation, a 5-month supply of Similac Advance formula and diapers will be provided.
The last visit will be when baby is 14 months old. At this visit we will have you come after baby has received their vaccinations and ask you to bring those records with you. We will perform blood, urine, stool, and cheek swab collection. An additional 3-month supply of diapers will be proved to thank you for your participation at this visit.
If we ask you to return for a repeat visit, you will be compensated with either diapers or a check for $25 for your time.
