Aixa Gonzalez Garcia, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medical Genetics and Metabolism at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). In her hometown of Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Gonzalez Garcia received her medical degree at Universidad Central de Venezuela. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida and her residency in Medical Genetics at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Gonzalez Garcia completed her training at Emory University with a fellowship in Medical Biochemical Genetics.

She is passionate about rare genetic disorders and has recently joined the Vascular Anomalies team to help understand the underlying genetic cause of different types of vascular lesions, which can impact treatment decisions.

Dr. Gonzalez Garcia is fluent in English and Spanish. Outside her clinical work, she is an avid reader and an animal lover.
