Bariatric surgery may be an option for some children who have not been able to maintain weight loss and control their health with diet and exercise alone. To be considered for weight loss surgery, the child must be:

  • between the ages of 14-18
  • have a BMI >40
  • BMI >35 with medical problems
  • highly motivated to make changes and have a good family support
  • complete the 6 visit C.O.A.C.H. program.
