Arkansas Children's Heart Institute Successfully Implants Aortic Stent in Smallest Baby to Ever Receive It

Arkansas Children’s Heart Institute successfully implanted a Renata Minima aortic stent in the smallest baby to receive it, a premature infant weighing 3.3 pounds. Michael J. Angtuaco, M.D., led the groundbreaking procedure, which offers a minimally invasive solution for coarctation of the aorta, a common congenital defect. The stent expands with the child, ensuring long-term treatment.
