Alliance for Grief and Loss

The Alliance for Grief and Loss is an informal coalition of helping professionals interested in grief and loss issues. All meetings are at Arkansas Children's Hospital Professional Building 1 (formerly East Campus) unless otherwise noted, have a program related to grief and loss and are brown-bag lunch meetings. Walk to Fight Suicide

Walk Location: Dickey-Stephens Ballpark - North Little Rock, AR
Check-in/Registration Time: 11/04/2018 at 12:00 pm
Walk Begins: 2:00 pm
Walk Ends: 5:00 pm

Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

2018 Fall Conference and Webcast

For Children's Grief Awareness Month, the National Alliance for Grieving Children will again host a Fall Conference & Webcast on Children's Grief.  This year's webcast is entitled "Supporting Youth and Schools After a Community Tragedy". This popular event will feature thought leaders from the field of childhood bereavement who appeal to a diverse audience, including, funeral service, hospice care, health care, education, mental health, child welfare, and bereavement support professionals.

The ACH Center for Good Mourning will host this program:

International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day--Saturday, November 17

For adults who have experienced the death of someone to suicide and those wanting to be more supportive of survivors of suicide loss. For Little Rock:

Walking in the Dark, Closer to the Light—a retreat for those who give grief support

  • Friday, November 30- December 1st
  • Mount Eagle Retreat Center, Clinton, Arkansas

A retreat to help support and equip those in the helping professions to be of service to others experiencing grief, led by Greg Adams, Program Coordinator of the Center for Good Mourning at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Good Mourning Grief Support Groups

Good Mourning Grief Support Groups are for any child or teen, ages pre-K through high school, who has experienced the death of a family member or friend. There are also support groups available for the adults in the family. There is no charge for the program, but a completed application is required for each child or teen. For spring 2019, the Parent Orientation will be Tuesday, March 12, at 6:00 p.m. and all groups begin Tuesday, March 26, at 6:00 p.m. To apply online go to For more information call 501-364-7000.
