Biostatistics Resource
The ACRI Biostatistics Resource provides comprehensive support in study design, sampling, data collection methods, analysis, and interpretation. Our team includes doctoral and master's level statisticians who assist researchers at Arkansas Children’s across basic science, clinical, health outcomes, epidemiologic, nursing and behavioral research. The team is proficient in common statistical software, including R and SAS. The biostatisticians are actively involved in research projects ranging from brief consultations to long-term collaborative research.
Key Services
Study Design & Protocol Development
- Guidance on hypothesis formulation, study endpoints, sampling plans, experimental design and selection of appropriate analytic methods
- Assistance with protocol development, data collection procedures, and database specifications for prospective and retrospective studies involving vitro, animal, or human models.
Statistical Analysis & Modeling
- Execution of advanced statistical analyses (e.g., longitudinal models, survival analysis, mixed effects models) tailored to pediatric populations.
- Development of reproducible analytic workflows and data management procedures to ensure rigorous and transparent research practices.
Grant Development & Scientific Writing
- Contribution to statistical design and power calculations for grant applications, plus statistical methodology for manuscripts and reports.
- Interpretation of results, discussion of limitations and support with peer review.
- Development of scientific tables and figures.
- Interpretation and communication of statistical findings for scientific, clinical, and community audiences.
Pediatric-Specific Methodology Expertise
- Methods tailored for small sample sizes, repeated measures, developmental trajectories and age-adjusted outcomes.
- Experience addressing the unique methodological and ethical considerations commonly encountered in child health and translational research.

- Creation of new statistical or quantitative approaches to investigate novel research questions.
