Thrive Study

Overview

The Thrive Study is seeking participants who are more than 30 weeks pregnant. If you are at least 18 years old, you may be able to join.

The study wants to learn how a mom’s diet and her environment, like access to food, affect breastfeeding, mom’s health, and the baby’s growth. You and your baby will take part in remote visits at home. These visits include questionnaires, measurements, and sample collections from both mom and baby.

What to Expect

Screening

Before joining, we will ask questions about:

  • Your address and date of birth
  • Your pregnancy
  • Your ability to join the study for at least one year

If you qualify, we will send study materials and forms by email, text and website links. Our team will help explain the study by phone, text, email and/or video call.

During Pregnancy

  • One remote visit before your baby is born
  • Answer questions about your health, pregnancy, diet, breastfeeding plans, and mental health

Time: 2–4 hours

After Your Baby is Born

You and your baby will have 11 remote visits from 2 weeks to 2 years of age.

  • Visit Schedule: 2 weeks, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months

What you may do at each visit:

  • Answer questions about your health, your baby’s health, breastfeeding, and diet
  • Measure weight, length, and blood pressure for you and your baby
  • Collect breast milk, urine, and stool samples

Track activity and sleep with a wearable device.

Time: 2–4 hours for each visit

Study Payment

  • $50 for each completed visit
  • $75 for completing the feedback interview at the end of the study
  • $100 bonus if all visits are completed
  • Up to $775 total
