The Patient & Family Representative works to increase patient and family understanding of and satisfaction with the care they are receiving. They do this by facilitating patient/family requests, working to provide a centralized feedback system that can observe trends and help hospital leadership recognize areas in need of alternative procedures, supporting effective communication between all members of the hospital team and patients and their families, facilitating the resolution of patient and family concerns.

The goal of PCS is to ensure care is supportive of a patient and family-centered care model within an interdisciplinary, shared decision-making framework. We are responsible for the provision and coordination of care within all acute care and critical care units, surgical service areas (OR and PACU), emergency services, clinical informatics as well as occupational, physical and respiratory therapies. We also provide oversight to all of the nursing within the Arkansas Children's health care system including inpatient and outpatient units as well as ambulatory and ancillary service locations and advanced practice nursing.
