Justin Michael Hire, M.D., FAAOS, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopedic conditions and injuries at Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale.  He specializes in the treatment and prevention of injuries in the growing and adolescent athlete including kneecap (patella) dislocations, meniscus tears, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions and shoulder injuries.  He also sees young adult sports injuries and general pediatric orthopedic conditions.

Dr. Hire received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2011 and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Ga. in 2016.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Hire spent the next four years at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. as an orthopedic surgeon in the military.  As part of Operation Inherent Resolve, he was deployed to Ash Shaddadi, Syria in 2017, where he spent five months serving on the 541st Forward Surgical Team. He also traveled to Blantyre, Malawi, Africa as a volunteer pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Cure International.  During his service in the U.S. Army, Dr. Hire was the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Army Commendation Medal with C Device (earned in combat), Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Following his military service, Dr. Hire completed a one-year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio.  He joined Arkansas Children’s Northwest in February 2022 from the University of Missouri Health Care Women and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, Mo., where he was an assistant professor of clinical orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Hire is a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).  He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
