Dr. Chelsea Mathews is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She specializes in treating foot and ankle conditions. Her expertise includes managing traumatic and sports-related injuries and surgical correction of deformities such as flat feet, bunions and congenital defects. Dr. Mathews is dedicated to restoring function and improving her patient's quality of life through non-operative and surgical interventions.

She is skilled in various advanced techniques for foot and ankle reconstruction, including minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy, and advanced fixation methods for fractures and deformities. Dr. Mathews is committed to providing personalized care tailored to each patient's unique needs, ensuring optimal recovery and long-term mobility.

Dr. Mathews holds board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS), demonstrating her expertise and commitment to the highest standards of patient care.

She completed her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University (LSU), earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Dr. Mathews then attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport for her medical degree. She completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at UAMS, followed by a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Washington, where she further refined her skills in complex foot and ankle procedures.

Dr. Mathews is an active member of several prominent professional organizations, including the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Arkansas Orthopaedic Society (AOS).

Outside of her clinical and academic work, Dr. Mathews is passionate about helping individuals stay active and healthy. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, and coaching exercise classes. She is dedicated to keeping people moving in their everyday lives and the activities they love.
