Kenneth Knecht, MD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the pediatric cardiology section of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), practicing at Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Dr. Knecht received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. After a one-year transitional internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA, he began active duty in the U.S. Navy, initially practicing general medicine for two years stationed at Mississippi's gulf coast. After completing his pediatric residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA, he practiced general pediatrics for three years at Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, and Great Lakes, IL. He then returned to the University of Tennessee to complete a fellowship in pediatric cardiology.
Dr. Knecht joined UAMS in July 2009. His interests include heart transplantation, cardiomyopathies, and translational research. He has presented research findings at regional, national and international scientific meetings. He won two awards as a young investigator during training and has mentored winners of similar awards since joining UAMS. He is also active in the non-invasive imaging lab and regional clinics throughout the state. Additionally, he is the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care for Arkansas Children's Hospital.
